Articulating desk lamp.

 

The lamp is made out of forty-five components, which I designed and manufactured.

To allow for a smooth action as possible and minimise friction, all of the joints on the lamp are brass on steel because they are a good bearing pair. 

​

For accurate adjustment all of the aluminium connecting bars have opposing threads on each end, which allows for each single connecting bar to be adjusted individually.

 

The 3D printed brackets help achieve maximum movement and range and allowed me to complete the project without access to a milling machine. This material also provides a good contrast to the metallic linkage.
